While I’m waiting on the artist (Lance Buckley) to finish up the cover for my upcoming Sly As A Fox, I’ve been working hard on Denizen, the next book in the Sentient series. I’ve also been jotting notes and the occasional scene for Thrice Sly, the next one in the Sylvia series.
Sometimes it feels very surreal to be writing about battles high above a distant planet in the future, while preparing to market a mystery/thriller set on planet Earth in current day. It’s not outer space vs. here that gets me. It’s the time thing. It makes me feel a bit like a time traveler. Like Dr. Who, in the sexy blue box, Tardis.
I’m not sure I could be a time traveler. I’d be forever checking when I was. And I was always bad at history. I’d probably have to wear a watch on my wrist with a scrolling screen that let me know what’s supposed to be happening in that time.
I might try to write a series, or at least a book, about it, just to see if I could do it. Maybe make it a character who, like me, gets confused about what time she’s in.
Someday.
Just when I don’t have something to do. You know.
