Waiting, Waiting, Waiting, … Cooking

I’ve been asked what I do while waiting for my mystery, On The Sly, to come out in two days. My answer: several things.

#1) I edit the next book. It’s already written.

#2) I write occasional scenes for the third book. I have to, or they’ll get stuck in my head and eventually the writing gears will come to completely to a halt if I don’t get them out.

#3) I market like a fiend. Well, for me. I try to do some marketing every day. Also, everywhere I go, I take promotional cards to hand out.

#4) And when I feel like jumping through my skin because the wait is wearing so heavily on me, I cook. Very few people know this about me, but once upon a time, I was a Saucier in a high-end restaurant. I love to cook. And I love leftovers. It all works out.

Lately, there’s been a lot of dinner parties at my house. The other night, I made Osso Buco for the first time. It turned out great. Enough food to feed 10 people. Luckily I had a few guests. Leftovers still will feed 10 people. It’s like the magic bag of holding, I think. Sadly, I didn’t take any photos.

Over the course of the last two weeks, I’ve made Lasagna rolls, Turkey (another big dinner party), Turkey soup, the Osso Buco, and put some Ravioli in my freezer for an upcoming luncheon that had to be postponed due to weather. So, that’s 5 major meals and 3 or 4 dinner parties. All in two weeks.

My freezer is bursting at the seams.

The Ravioli I made was my very first attempt at making pasta. Ever.

It was a HUGE mess. But hopefully worth it. At least the scraps tasted good cooked with butter, garlic, and parm.

Now, with On The Sly releasing just two days away, I have one more big meal I can make. What shall it be?
